So I was reading a couple of articles on National Geographic News website yesterday and I've came across an article about recently discovered fungi. It struck me because it was so odd but totally pleasing or enticing to my eyes. It was a like a reminiscence of what I used to enjoy in college with my BIOmates --appreciating the complexities and diversities of life [forcibly at times. hehe!] There was this fungi named after the cartoon 'Spongebob Squarepants' because of its spongy appearance. It even showed more similarity with its spore-producing area resembling a seafloor carpeted in tube sponges when scanned under an electron microscope. [Read full article HERE] Another amazing discovery was made back in October 2009 when a psychedelic new species of glowing mushroom was seen in the Brazilian rainforest.
